Universalis App Reviews

Daily must

Universalis is the best. It worth every penny. I have been using to for many years and have versions on several devices. The iPad version is wonderful. I appreciate the continual improvements. I use the large text with black background on the treadmill. This app makes reading the daily office very convenient. No excuses now! Thank you!

User

Excellent app but the size of font should be able to be changed similar to internet version.

Good App

Good app giving me access to all this off-line. My biggest suggestion would be to allow the font size to be altered.

Great App

Pray using this each day. Great design. I agree with those who have asked for larger font selections. The current sizes on Ipad are hard for older Catholic eyes.

Excellent

This is a more expensive app but definitely worth the money. Is based directly on feast days, gospels of that day.

Small letters

Booklet facing page is fine. Needs letters to be bigger for easier read. Convenience for travel without wifi is neat idea.

Non-traditional

The app does not offer anything traditional. Its based on the Vatican II New Mass and New calendar. The readings are not from the Catholic Douay-Rheims Bible.

iOS 8 killed this app on my iPad Air

Upgraded to iOS 8 and now this app will not install on my iPad Air. Com on Universalis Pubs, pleas update this app for iOS 8

Fantastic, Full-Featured Devotional Toolkit

I have been using Universalias for several years now, and it has more or less replaced my old, increasingly worn, physical copy of the divine office. The calendar of saints, the mass readings, and now the integration with the iOS8 today screen all add further value to what was already a fantastically good deal. For practising Catholics, or anyone interested in an aid to private devotion, this App should be on the must have list.

Love it

So much easier and affordable than any book versions. Navigation is easy. I would like to be able to switch background colors. For instance, black background with white text; or a sepia background with black text. Ive also us d the Universalis website to create an ebook ok for my kindle. Very easy. Highly recommended.

Indispensable daily connection to the liturgy

I read the readings for the Mass for the next day every evening. Its a great preparation and reminder, and it gives me a chance to look up puzzling passages to reflect upon. I love this app.

Universalis

This is a great App for praying the Liturgy of the Hours. It contains all I need for my daily Catholic prayers and Mass readings. There are a number of font choices and you can easily adjust the font size. It does not contain the vocalization of the prayers like alternative Apps, but it is more than I could have expected. I highly recommend this App!

Irritating modifications

I bought the full app years ago. the recent modifications means that if you try to scroll through the pages too quickly, you get a yellow banner notice about making the font smaller. YOU CANNOT SCROLL THROUGH TOO QUICKLY WITHOUT SEEING THIS IRRITATING AND UNNECESSARY YELLOW BANNER. Who thinks this is a good idea? Why is it there ALL THE TIME?

Everything I hoped for and more

Easy to navigate, many features & uses, can be easily used offline. I tried a free app for the hours too, and it didnt hold a candle to Universalis. One of my top apps.

Great functionality, easy to use

This app is great for praying the liturgy of the hours - it loads quickly and I’ve not had any problems with it shutting down unexpectedly or acting buggy.

Universalis

just started using it but can’t figure out how to make the lettering larger.

This app is wonderful! I use it daily.

For the cost of $12.99, the US user has access to the official Liturgy of the Hours throughout the day, and no wi-fi is necessary! (Some apps offer similar prayers, but not the official translations due to copyright protections.) The tutorial walks you through all the controls so you can easily adjust text size, brightness, etc. I like to say Lauds and Compline only, so I adjusted my screen so that I see light words on a dark screen. This is good for my eyes at around 6 AM and 9 PM! I was also able to set notifications through the app to remind me to pray. Considering what it would cost to purchase the Divine Office in book form (about $125 on Amazon.com), and considering how much I struggled with finding my place even with a "Shorter Christian Prayer" book, this app has taken out the guesswork at an affordable price. You can choose between flipping the pages as in a book or scrolling view. There are many other features I dont have the space or time to comment on here, but read the Universalis details section in the app store, and Im sure youll be impressed! Do take the time to walk through the tutorial after purchase, so you dont have the same issues as previous reviewers! I strongly recommend Universalis! :)

Perfect!

This app is a must for any Catholic priest/religious. Ive been using it for over 3 years now and it has been so helpful for personal use, as well as for projecting the divine office and mass readings during retreats and prayer meetings. And Im really pleased that they now have the apple page curl :).

Indicators hidden

While I appreciate the page-turning effect and other upgrades, I really miss being able to see the time especially, but also the battery indicator, etc. at the top of the screen. I wish I could go back to the prior version…

Latest update put night mode date selection bar white on white!

Great app as always but latest update has made the date selection bar white on white - cant see dates. Hope you can fix it soon. I use night mode all the time as a preference, finding it easier on the eyes. Peace
